Initially I went to see my younger sister who has just become a grandma for the first time. Obviously the next port of call was to see my great niece Isabella and her mother, my niece Rebecca and husband Tom. All were doing very well indeed and baby Isabella is an absolute delight. She slept peacefully until she was placed in great uncle's arms, when she cried out loudly -- oh well!
Also saw my mother yesterday. She was a much more relaxed and peaceful than last time I visited. She lives with dementia these days, and whilst she had no real recollection of who I was, she knew I was somebody close to her and she responded appropriately. I haven't made up my mind whether to be sad or happy for her. She now lives totally in her own world, having conversations with herself, even in the presence of my sister and I. But yesterday although I saw a deterioration in her dementia, she seemed much more at peace with herself.
The evening was spent with reading and preparation --
looking forward to my trip to France and Belgium which starts on Sunday afternoon.
Yesterday was also the last day of my medication over two weeks, and whilst I
have felt reasonably okay, I look forward to 2 weeks without Sutent.
Yes, I was sorry to miss you and seeing darling Isabella, but walls needed to be painted at Sarah and Derek's new abode!
